Polly Letson lives in Edinburgh, where she spends her time with her 5 vampire dogs (that's cats to you and me!)
She enjoys writing and discovering fine purveyors of cake, when she isn't settled in one of the capital's amazing tea shops she's out exploring Scotland's most ancient and haunted sites.
Polly grew up on the west coast of Scotland and this dramatic scenary (and unending rain) has shaped her writing.
She visits all the locations in which her books are set, researching each area and unravelling local myths and legends.
She has two favourite places in Scotland, the Isle of Skye and the otherworldly beauty of Glen Coe - both of which are made even better by a Tunnocks tea cake and a cup of English Breakfast tea; unlike Iona, Polly doesn't actually like Earl Grey.
On a recent trip to Rome, Polly discovered the painted garden fresco from Livia's villa, now housed at Plazzo Massimo.
Filled with birds, trees, flowers, ripening fruits and lots of furtive little animals painted over all four walls, it magically brings a verdant dreamscape to life.
Painted over 2000 years ago - it casts a spell over the viewer and may even turn up in a future book!
